A WFGA member and dear
friend, Bernhard Hartan, left us tragically, in March, 2004.
His presence is sorely missed by his family, friends, and the
Group.
The WFGA has instituted a scholarship in his name, with the OSCVI
in Owen Sound.
Bernhard works in pencil
and many paint mediums.
He paints fantasy dreamscapes. Bernhard Hartan calls his polished
paintings “dreamworks.” The one artist in the group actually living in
downtown Walter’s Falls, Bernhard was born in Bavaria, arrived in Canada
in 1981 and moved to the Falls in 1983. His art training was primarily
by osmosis and unofficial apprenticeship in a vibrant artistic
society/community in Spain, during the 1970s, combined with travel
through Europe, India, Africa and the States. Bernhard’s dreamworks are
illusionarily tactile and visually-layered surprises. Most of his past
work has gone to collectors in Germany, Switzerland and U.S.A. |
