    Kate is a potter who also shows with the Owen Sound Artists' Co-op as well as the Owen Sound Farmers Market. Making pottery in Grey County since 1978 has given Kate McLaren a deep connection to her rural environment and stimulated her passion for trees. She has developed a unique and lovely deep red clay body that is vitrified earthenware, almost unheard of in the ceramic world. Her glazing is truly original, both technically and aesthetically. Wax resists are painted over glazes then washed and re-glazed painstakingly to give the desired effects. All of her explorations are contained by functional considerations; handsome is as handsome does.
